Gwent Outdoor Education Centres holds a DofE Approved Activity Provider (AAP) license and can offer training, practice and qualifying walking and canoeing expeditions to all levels of participants.
The centres are ideally situated on the edge of the Black Mountains and Brecon Beacons areas and close to the Wye Valley. The centres can also provide camping onsite. All our staff are approved supervisors and assessors and we are well resourced to equip walking and canoeing expeditions.
Expeditions can also be undertaken abroad. We have overseen a number of successful ‘gold’ canoe trips on the Dordogne in France. We offer standalone courses or we can offer a package the covers both training and assessment.
Our expeditions can be by foot or canoe and are mainly conducted in the South Wales area – other forms of expedition and other areas can be arranged but may incur additional charges, please contact us to discuss the options. If you have a group looking for an expedition then we often have availability during the school holidays.
We can provide students with all group equipment such as tents, mats, stoves, maps, and also able to provide some personal items if students don’t have them such as rucksacks and sleeping bags. Typical packages could include:
Bronze – foot-based expedition along Offa's Dyke, Wye Valley Walk, Monnow Valley Walk, Forest of Dean, Beacons Way.
Silver – foot-based expedition in the Black Mountains, canoe expedition on the Monmouth and Brecon canal.
Gold – foot-based expedition in the Brecon Beacons, canoe expedition on the river Wye, river Severn or in France on the Dordogne.
